Other Discrete Projects

  • Changes to the Procurement Code have been made.
  • Clarification of Attorney Roles (SCAO/Counsel to the Chief/AG) is ongoing.
  • Formalizing new “board of directors” governance structure/Supreme Court administrative liaison roles is underway.
  • Formalizing Chief Justice onboarding process should be done by end of summer 2023.
  • A More Transparent Complaint SystemA third party independent anonymous complaint system. This will allow employees to make anonymous complaints against other employees through encrypted communications. Complaints against judges are being handled consistent with the requirements of the new judicial discipline legislation.
  • 360 Evaluations for Leaders: The WCI Steering Committee is exploring ways to create constructive feedback processes for chief judges regarding their leadership and managerial skills that also allow employees to feel safe in providing such feedback.  This work is ongoing summer 2023, and will likely result in updates to CJD 95-01, which sets forth chief judge duties, as well as in the creation of a survey tool for feedback that chief judges can use as professional development.
  • Workplace Culture Initiative: Fiscal year 2024 provided funding for five full time employees for the Initiative. Job descriptions and hiring processes are underway summer 2023.  These positions will include employees who focus on DEI and who will assist with Judicial Diversity Outreach.  The legislature moved forward with a separate judicial ombuds position; the Branch will execute an memorandum of understanding with that ombuds.
  • DEI:  We plan to increase and expand our DEI trainings and resources beginning in the first quarter of 2024, if we are successful in obtaining supplemental funding from the legislature.
